Currently in my fourth year at the Alberta University of Arts (formerly known as ACAD), my work, which tends to centre around themes of culture and folklore, is still in a very transformative period: my style and overall oeuvre is in constant development, revision, and refinement. Overall, it is about medium—leaving visible brushstrokes or marks, leaving traces of fingerprints in clay—and colour although much of the content spans from belief to simulation theory to faeries to pop culture. I am interested in incorporating these themes into fine art given their assumed opposition.
Growing up, my visual sense and taste for artwork was heavily influenced by the colourful pieces common in my home of the Saanich Peninsula. Though my personal work has largely departed from the idealistic landscapes, the oversaturated colours used have seeped into my paintings.
